It was you that taught me waterfall pictures are best taken in the shade, especially if you want the silky effect of a slow shutter, and you demonstrate that very well here. You have also shown the wonderful clarity and aqua hue of the water; we can see the rocks beneath the water level. Definitely a good idea to get away from the more well-travelled routes.

As you no doubt surmised I am having a TE break at the moment, but can't resist having a peep now and again. When I saw your comment on one of my oldies I just had to see what you had been up to. :D
I remember this one from your website. This is one of my favourite weather combinations for photography. When you get a sunlit scene backed by a dark sky it can't be beaten and it's a rush to catch the moment which is often all too fleeting. You managed to achieve that very well and compose a very attractive image with the asymmetrical mountains in the background.
There's plenty of deadwood for the beavers!

Hi Bev
I actually didn't know the name of the falls, although I've heard it before somewhere.
In a similar way to the previous image you used the wall well in this one. The gap prevents it 'closing off' the view beyond. There is also a good visual balance between the wall on the left and the tree on the right. Excellent WS too. Now I wonder where I saw that sheep before! ;D

Hi John
You sneaked this one in under my guard!!
It is amazingly like a serpent with its tongue tasting the air. You have captured excellent texture in this ancient bark despite harsh lighting conditions.
I'll write to you in a day or two when I've downloaded my Skye photos.

Damn fine idea to re-name the country! Did you write to Buckingham Palace to get the relevant permission??! ;D
You have the most amazing eye to seek out unusual places to find reflections. This could be either in a flea market or a junk shop. I love your sales line too --- you could even use it to make a self portrait next time you brush your hair! ;D

Hi Bev
Just got back from Isle of Skye last night.
Had to comment on this one as I was standing right next to you when you took it! ;D You made much better use of the wall than I did. I love the curving perspective of the wall, which leads us right to the three barns. There were some dark shadows that day and you have lightened them to perfection. We couldn't have had better weather could we?
I've added a WS for JY. Hope you don't mind! ;D

More recently I have done just this; turned my back on the setting sun while others are photographing into the light. When the sun is setting behind you the light on the landscape is magical. I love the shadows in the lines of the hills and the golden tones. Personally I would have cropped the large expanse of sea to make a letter-box format, but having said that the texture of the rippled surface is well captured.

If I was there now I would be in that queue, drooling while I waited. Banana fritters are not so readily available over here. Very good daily life image. It seems many tourists are taking advantage of the fritters too.

Good to see you again Harry. This is a wonderful B&W in your own inimitable style. The light is excellent and the reflections wonderful. Although I am a colour lover this is so much better than the colour version. Presumably you were on a bridge for this high POV which works so well in the composition.
You certainly see the world with your job.
