A befitting symbolic capture to mark the Day - virus of no virus. This photo really gives so much to the viewer to absorb the detail seen thru your lens. A fine effort and Happy Easter. Congrats

    Hello Gert,

An amusing but very appropriate title for this photograph - but also a very fine photograph in itself; the barrow, laden with ripe and ripening bananas making a brilliantly colourful statement against the drab background of rickety makeshift buildings and houses and murky water. And, of course, the lean man, presumably setting off to deliver his goods, is perfectly placed as he looks straight into your camera. Nice too that a little warm sunshine has decided to settle on your main subject while the background remains in relative shade.

An excellent image with good lighting, true colours and excellent detail.

    Lovely!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. Born in the late 1940s and growing up in the 1950s, I vividly remember a song which everybody used to sing from time to time, namely "Yes, we have no bananas....". I think it originated in the 1920s but became popular in Britain during WWII when imports of bananas were suspended. If you've got the stomach for it, you can hear bits of it in this little film clip:

    Hello Gerrit,

It is sad that we cannot do as we have done previous years, we have had to cancel a short holiday, but, it better to be safe than sorry!

    This is an unbelievable shot!
The rainbow is so clear (with a ghostly addition) and is pinpointing the mill.
When you get rainbows, the light is so unusual roundabout and you have captured it here.

A great shot without a tripod.

    Have a safe w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Jorge,

You have cropped this building really well, to emphasise the horizontal layers, from the top of the pillars to the line of statues.
The lines of the roof then curve inwards to draw attention to the clock, protected by an overhanging lip.
The details are sharp and the colours cheerful.

I wonder if the clock was right, when you took this photograph!

Have a happy, safe Easter w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Gert,

Since you have little recall of taking the photograph, I cannot ask questions about the man and his mission!
I wonder if the stalls and sellers were set up here, to gain trade from people using the boats to the islands.

The cart, with oodles of bananas, and the Tarzan-like man, make a great focal point and strongly placed in the frame. The light and shadows suggest that it might have been quite early but must have been warm ... considering the dress (or undress) of the barrow-man.

Have a happy and safe, w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Craig,

There is something so wonderfully atmospheric about foggy photographs.
It's almost as if being detectives, we try to see into the mist, to discern what is being slowly hidden from our view.
All the shots are good, but you made an instinctive choice about this one, just being the best.
There is so much to like from the mysterious mood, to the gently defined reflections, slightly distorted by the ripples.

    Have a happy, safe w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Nicolas,

This really suits the time of year; we love to see the emerging cherry blossoms around Easter time.
You have captured this one very artistically, its arched branches, steering us across the frame, whilst its blossoms are cascading al, around.
We get a second viewing, in the window, where there is lovely reflection, and we can see the deep colour of the sky.

    Keep safe,
    Bev :-)

    Ciao Luciano,
this is a washing day and a bike parking/storage in one.
It is amazing how well people are able to adapt to new circumstances. This is certainly a great example of how people are creative in using the available space they have. Every inch perfectly used.
    Very well seen and captured,

    Hello Lars,

This is a very successful photograph!
The thickness of the stone divisions, between the windows provides an excellent frame, to break up the distorted reflections.
The colours, by coincidence, are very patriotic!

Have a happy, safe Easter w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Brenda,

Considering the height and the densely packed position of this building, you have done a remarkable job portraying it so well.
We can see its neoclassical, ground floor details, then it seems to power into the sky, like an ascending rocket! The details are remarkably crisp.

Are the men in the f/g performers?
When we were near Battery Park, we witnessed a group of performers, very much like these men, who were doing jumps and somersaults over the tourists!!!

    Have a lovely, safe, w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Ike,

I'm sure you sighed with relief to be able to pop out with your camera and not get soaked!

What an interesting wall to photograph!
It is alive with sculptures, placed on fine dressed stones.
Also, the colours are so varied and subtle; they range through creams, pinks, yellows and greens!
You have picked out the details with excellent clarity.

Have a good w/e and keep afe,

    Hi Bev
its never easy losing a loved one, doesn't matter if its an animal or person, they're still a large part of the family unit and Wanda will be missed each day - so sorry to hear that.
its difficult to transition from Wanda to a photograph, but I must say, this is a sweet photo. I don't think i've ever seen the Colosseum from this exact view with the large tall trees.
They look like Broccoli with just the tops remaining. beautiful views of Rome. Take care
    cheers
    Craig
