To cerenguven: A tripod and the bulb setting...

Ceren, I set the camera on my tripod, aimed as best I could at the sky, set the focus to manual (infinity distance) and used the "bulb" setting. I started the exposure and walked away for 22 minutes,...

To AndyMcK: I agree

I agree that a more dramatic framing would have been nice, but there was a solid rock wall to the right, I couldn't really get much further over there. Not to mention "cropping" out all the people...

To chpp: Agreed

I agree about chopping on the left but there were tourists that just wouldn't leave the scene no matter how long I waited, so I compromised...

Re: Lensbabies

I do not have one so I can't help you there but I did just want to say that I have never been pleased with the results of using them in the photos that I have seen. Likely I'm missing some artistic...

To peter1892: Yes it was!

The very same Casa Bonita. The creators of South Park actually went to high school in Evergreen, CO (which isn't that far from here) so they probably took the trip down to the restaurant many times...

Re: Camera & Lens database

Adam, is there anything that we, the community, could do to help? Maybe just have a test database and allow TE users access to it so we can help clean things up? It's one of those "many hands make...

Re: Mess with locations

I think part of the issue for me is that when I travel I frequently have no idea what state/province I'm in, which makes it harder to categorize my photos. I know in the past what I've done was...

To berseph: Kind of an accident, but I like it

Amber,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I've been travelling for work lately... I think that the curve of the lens was an accident but the more I look at it the more I like it, it gives...

Re: Blank Bio's

I cannot say that a bio influences me as the majority of the time I only go look at the bio after critiquing (and usually so I can see what other photos the user has submitted). One thing I do look...

Re: Blank Bio's

While I do find people's bio's interesting I think it's a little harsh to not want to critique a photo just based on whether someone told you enough about themselves or not. I'd prefer to critique...

Re: .htm files? any use?

They are reference files, but I wouldn't actually call them "unimportant".

Here is a couple of reasons to keep them:

Re: A question I will ask on ALL three Trek Sites

I recently purchased the Canon 10-22mm for a trip to Hawaii (I figured there were going to be some big landscapes there!) and am very happy with the purchase. How much money do you figure you will be...

To bombilla: No filter!

No filter, that star happened all by itself with the lens I had on there (I like that part too...)

Re: Your photos used elsewhere by other people...

Don't be so sure they aren't making money on your photos, this is just the one you found! I had someone email me about a year ago, seems someone had taken about 20 photos from my website and posted...

Build Video On Demand systems

I build VOD systems for cable companies. One advantage is the group I am in gets a lot of travel. Not always to good places mind you, but I've also been to some amazing places on the company dime.

Re: so selling photographs?!?

I forgot to mention, there is a database of ICC color profiles for (almost?) every Costco printer out there: http://www.drycreekphoto.com/icc/

I used that to color-correct my photo before...

Re: so selling photographs?!?

Vanessa, I don't know if you have a Costco near you in Alaska, but their photo processing is something you should look into. I had them print one of my photos in 13x19" size and it cost a whopping...

To ruisc_pt: Harbour Bridge

I keep my images online to around 600 pixels because I've had many of them ripped off and used commercially for other purposes, so this is enough to still show the photo without worrying about...

Re: To trinko: Coastal location

Head north, there's some gorgeous scenery up there as well (we stayed at a small bed & breakfast called "Glendeven Inn", I'd highly recommend it, great place!)

To nels: Spinnaker Tower

Hi Adrian,
Spinnaker Tower is the "tallest public viewing tower in the UK". If you ask a Portsmouth resident it's just something to bring the tourists into town. ;-)

Re: Your favourite place in your country?

Moab, Utah. Actually just southern Utah, the desert gives some truly stunning images. It helps that I'm an avid mountain biker and Moab is well known for it. I'm very thankful that it's only a 5 hour...
