Default To Deke: Distortion?

Hi Deke

Thank you for your comment, Please can you explain to me a bit more why you think the photo is distorted in some places and what you mean with the low end of the wide angle lens. Is it better to use the top end (55) of the lens for shots like these?

Hi Jannie, by the low end I mean the 18mm and it's perfect for a shot like this. At that focal length you often get some distortion of the horizon, like a bow effect, I see it with my 19mm. This particular shot makes great use of the wide angle. At the right side you can see the horizon is tilted but this perfectly suits the composition and makes for more dynamic lines than if it was level. Hope that helps to clear up my logic (distorted?!!!). Bottom line, I like the photo. Cheers, Ian
