Great macjake 2019-10-13 2:12

Hi Benny
this is a great shot my friend. I'd like to know, how close to her were you? Were you using a tele lens? love the emotion you captured on her face, as if she's in deep thought. great to have the colourful bg too, it really completes the scene. awesome pic. cheers

Smile To macjake: how close

I use a combination lens Tamron AF 18-220mm, which I find quite practical, as I don't have to bother with changing lenses. It saves time and you avoid those dust particles entering your camera. I'm a very intuitive kind of photographer and I don't bother about the technicalities too much.

For this shot, as for most of my portraits, I'm not too far away. My guess is about two meters, maybe even a bit less. I prefer to be in direct contact with the people I photograph. I don't like doing sneaky kind of shots with a telelens. However brief, I like people to get a chance to show it if they don't want to be photographed. Luckily, in Asia, this does not happen too often.

In this case, the woman was aware of my presence, but she chose to just ignore me. No problem.

Thanks for your critique, Craig. I'll get back to you later, no more greenies today it seems...
