Great Energysavingelk 2018-03-12 10:26

Hello Alex!

What a symbol: christianity under siege.
And it is not only Petrus who rocks.

I wonder about the condition of the chapel; in her exposed position I would expect rapid deterioration.

Best regards

For the lovely critique:

I'd love to have seen the interior but the chapel was completely surrounded by the Atlantic waves. As far as I'm aware it has stood there for centuries and the interior although probably requiring restoration after each Winter, is still in one piece.

Legend has it that women used to practice witchcraft rituals there (some may still do it :-) and history attests that the Celtic tribes (Callaecii and Lusitanians mainly) already used the spot for their Gods. They had quite a few i.e. Crouga, Lugo, Morrigu= Cruigh/Crug, Lug, Mor.
Spectacular to look at for sure.
