Great PaulVDV 2018-12-10 12:20

Hello Gert,
I imagine that traveling in Sarawak was still very adventurous in the seventies. Was this the area where a few decades previously headhunters lived? Anyway, these little girls look rather innocent.
A passing boat was still something special. On te picture in the WS even a whole class comes to have a look.
Despite the fact that no one can be seen, I really like your second photo in the WS. But the house and the hung laundry give an interesting picture of daily life in that area.
The pepper plantation indicates cultivated land in the rainforest. Yet I find it a very beautiful nature picture.
Best regards, Paul

Default To PaulVDV: headhunters

Thank you Paul,
In case there were ever headhunters in this area it must have been long ago. However, such habits may have lingered on into the 20th century in very remote areas which colonizers hardly ever reached, far beyond the big navigable rivers like this.
Nowadays headhunting is probably restricted to the finance and hi-tech sectors in Kuala Lumpur.
Thanks for actually looking at the WS photos. Not everyone does.
Best regards,
Gert
