Great batalay 2007-06-17 12:22

Hello Sabyasacchi,

18,000 feet, that's astonishing! In that clean but rarified air, if you walk 100 meters quickly, you'll be out of breath. I climbed Mt. Ararat once, a thousand feet lower, and it was an ordeal. Four decades in the ancient past, I met the young American socialite who was about to marry the King of Sikkim. It turned out to be a disasteror for them, and for the small kingdom.

Your photo is a breath of cool air for the season upon us now.
Warm regards,
Bulent

where on earth did u meet that american??!! that's a long story, and i know so little about it. tell me more! u r sure cultivable in this regard it seems.
regarding the height, for the trekkers and mountain lovers in india, nepal, pakistan or tibet, this is as cool as being at 2000/3000 metres. life gets tough beyond 20,000 feet
anyways, thanks for ur comments

Hello "Mr. P", Sabysachi,

Just out of university (Georgetown, 1963), I had a call from one of my closest friends, Anil Nehru, who was the son of BK Nehru, the Indian Ambassador to Washington. He said that his mother would like us to escort the young lady, Hope Cook, to see the historic George Washington Home, in Alexandria. He said that the newspapers would announce the next day that this young lady, a young socialite, was to marry the King of Sikkim. I agreed to his mother's request, and within a couple hours Anil was there, with Hope Cook, and the King's sister, to chaperone the event. I sat in the back with Ms. Cook, Anil drove, and the sister "rode shotgut," as the expression goes. We spent a few hours being escorted around. I believe owned a Kodak Brownie at the time, and didn't even think of taking it along.

Warm regards,
Bulent
