Me parece cada vez más interesante la insistencia de no introducir temas políticas en este foro. Es como si el mundo existiera puramente por sus cualidades estéticas. Esta tendencia me es siquiera más dificil de comprender por pertenciendo en aquí en un ambiente donde el proposito es de "aprender sobre el mundo." Pues, para mí TE sería mucho más util y valioso si dejáramos esta desaprobación constante y entráramos en charlas - constructivas y civiles, claro - sobre lo que las fotos nos indica sobre el mundo. Es decir, el mundo es muchísimo más que una vista linda y la fotografía nos abre tantas puertas para conocerlo de una manera profunda y significativa. Pues, lástima que perdemos todo esa dimensión de nuestro arte.
Bueno, basta con el discurso.
En cuanto a esta foto, Miguel, tiene su impacto de verdad (y claro, es difícil de saber si éste viene de mis ideas y preconcepciones sobre los velos o no . . . ). Lo único que veo como una falla es que has cortado la nariz de la mujer del primero plano.
Bueno, claro que has usado las cualdidades del 200 mm bien para comprimir el espacio. Por otra parte, has usado el objetivo largo para tomar la foto sin que ellas supieran. Y eso? Pues tema de otro tipo de debate político, sin duda.

by the way, Hugh and I can stroll around in Salvador. He knows that city better then I do and we both will have the essence of it with him. :D

Me gusta más que la foto en si, la proximidad que me transmite. La naturalidad con la que está hecha y los contrastes entre los velos te situan bien en la escena y el lugar.

Before reading your note I had understood that it was not about the question of veils and more about the photo itself, colours, textures of the materials etc. This photo is really dense ! The fact that we cannot see the tip of the nose on the left distracts me a bit, I would have cropped even more in that case (leaving just the eye to be seen for instance) but otherwise I like it...

Very nice image of the ladies as they pass. There is a clear mystery about a woman's life in these type cultures. I am sure the influence from the west is a challenge for them. These eyes still tell some of the story held within as to these ladies lives while passing. I am sure much could be read into them. Very nice!
