Do you remember Nha Maria de Rbera d'Vinha? She has a farm in Ribeira de Vinha, São Vicente Island, Cape Verde. She rears goats, and sells their milk, cheese and meat. Here you see one of Nha Maria's goats.
Goats have been to Cape Verde since the first settlers brought them in the 15th century. In some islands they were left freely without people, to provide food for future ships that would call at the islands.
Some historians say the goats are responsible for the desertification of the islands, because the steadfast animals, in free ranging, without natural enemies, would have destroyed the natural vegetation. By the other hand, some scholars defend that the undemanding goats provided the poor Cape-Verdeans with a rare source of animal protein, by means of milk, cheese and meat. They give also fibers (hair) and hides (skin) for several uses. In any case, the goats success is due to their easy rearing and ability to eat almost anything.
Goats (Capra aegagrus hircus) are among the first domesticated animals. Their meat is healthier than other animals, because it is lower in fat and cholesterol. Some experts say also that goats milk is more appropriated to human consumption, in comparison with cows milk.
Cabrinha d'Soncente means “little goat of São Vicente Island” in Cape-Verdean Creole language.

Ofereceste quantas cenouras a cabra pela foto :), muito bonita a cor do pelo dela , uma pergunta com este tipo de animal quando tem três cores são sempre fêmeas , nas gatos costuma ser assim quando tem três são sempre fêmeas :) 99%, parabéns!!

Bonita cabra, mas parece que não há muita vegetação para ela se entreter.
Sempre pensei que Cabo Verde fosse completamente verde, mas depois de ver a tua pagina descobri que é um lugar bastante seco e com muito pouca vegetação.
Vendo fotos e aprendendo...

Concordo com o José, as cabras são modelos excelentes:) A pose dela está fantástica, foi boa ideia colocá-la separada porque merece. Está muito bem captada. A definição e as cores também ficaram muito bem!
