No... this is not the Congo river, nor the Lualaba and of course the guys in this dugout are not explorers serving the Belgian king in 1877.
The guys you see here are diamond diggers and traders crossing the Bushimaye river in Kasaï.
Although one may criticize Stanley's attitude ... the truth is that he has been incredibly reckless to follow the river Lualaba and then the Congo river for 1000 days from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast.
Stanley's exploration is documented by a series of photographs that he took himself and are preserved together with his archives at the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren (Belgium).

Salut Eric,
Tu es le seul, à ma connaissance, qui propose des images de ce pays sur un e base régulière et consistante. Je pense toujours que se promener dans ce monde du diamant est plutôt un petit plaisir dangereux :o))
