This was my first impact with the magnificent pyramids of Giza. The shot was taken from the Citadel
in mid June.I was surprised a lot 'cause I didn't think before that pyramids are almost surrounded by the city and the smog created by the city. I generally like contrasts, but this was a little bit too much for me.

Great job documenting the scope of the urban sprawls and polution in Cairo. I had no idea it was this bad. Thank you very much for sharing.

The contrast is almost disturbing, but it makes a great picture and tells a good story! A fine and different picture of a classical motif. Nana

interesting composition who shows the pyramids in the suburbs of the city of Caire. I am very surprised because I did not imagined it like that. Good idée to show in TE.

Contraste saisissant entre ces constructions millénaires superbement esthétiques et ces constructions urbaines anarchiques. Même si l'image manque un peu de contraste (mais tu l'as voulu ainsi) et de piqué, celà reste un superbe témoignage. Amicalement

Il y a un plan qui prévoit de racheter les terrains tout au tour des pyramides de raser les constructions et de créer un espace pour mettre en valeur ces monuments, patrimoine de l'humanité.
Il faut espérer que cela se fera le plus tôt possible. Le cliché est intéressant pour témoigner de l'urgence d'une solution.

Hi Szili.

This picture has no great definition. Or colours. And is not your best picture. But, anyway, It show us clearly one of the most importants problems of Egypt: the pollution and its contrasts.

Here, we can see an exemple of it. And I like it.

Excellent idea to show us this. I have always associated the pyramids with the desert sand and loneliness, not with the smof of a city.

Ciao. I think this is the first photo I could see of the pyramids not on their own. I know that they are very close to the city, but not so much!

Ismét egy érdekes képed! :-) Előtérben az arab káoszváros, hátul pedig az örök piramisok. :-) Kár, hogy egy kicsit homályosak a piramisok, gondolom a szmog miatt.

Nahát, ez is egy elképesztő fotó! Nagyon jó érzékkel állítottad egymás mellé ( illetve mögé) a történelmi idők és a modern kor „piramisait”! A háttérből felsejlő régmúlt idők dicsőséges árnyai egyrészt mágikus hatást kölcsönöznek a képnek, másrészt az igen erős kontraszt miatt szomorúságot is. Ez a kettőség igen erőssé teszi a kép hangulatát: kitűnő látlelet! Ismét egy szuper kép, Gratulálok!

Hi Attila. I do remember even twenty odd years ago how surprised I was to see roads, houses, street lights so close to the pyramids and how I had to position myself in such a way as not to include such thing in my photos. This however is incredible. The poor Pharaohs, how disturbed would their sleep be if they were still in their burial chambers. Dramatic shot in its revelation.Regards. Klaudio
