In southern Ethiopia's Great Rift Valley you can find two marvellous lakes ringed by savanna plains and nice mountain crests. One of them is called Abaya and has reddish brown water with muddy beaches, the other is the Chamo Lake and has blue water with white sandy beaches. They are considered by many to be also the most beautiful. Indeed, few places on earth can match the allure of their setting.
The two lakes are divided only by a narrow strip of land very well visible from the town of Arba Minch from where you can enjoy fantastic panoramic views on the two lakes and the surrounding Amaro mountains which forms part of one of Ethiopia's finest national parks, Nechisar, established as a sanctuary for the rare Swayne's hartebeest.
Chamo is a sanctuary for several thousand Nile crocodile, some reaching lengths of up to seven metres and for hundreds of hippos. Also the birdlife is flourishing but this will be the story for another photo...
In such a circumstances it was very "funny" to have to wear the life-guard jacket throughout the boat trip considering that the waters are infected also by the bilharzia.

Hallo Attila!
What an invitation, but I have a cold and therefore swimming wouldn't be good for me ;-)
You caught the leading actors very well and the scenery seem to be totally peaceful ...

Good capture of this beastly moment and very good focussing.

Hi Attila!
I can resist your invitation.
Great shot with good colors and light.Well done.
Good to have a 300 mm lense, otherwise your POV would have been dangerous.

salut attila
le 300 fonctionne bien, sacré bien de ces crocodiles avec la bouche ouverte, il valait mieux ne pas s'approcher, belle lumière qui éclaire les bétes, et bien isolés du fond flou, bon travail

Hi Attila,
Fantastic place, interesting scene from the wild nature. Excellent composition and nice colours. I have seen Abaya lake only from the high altitude, during the flight over Africa. I took two pictures and it is exactly as you wrote: water is brown. Useful note.
Great shot!

Hello Attila,
Great natural shot of crocos. The openned mouth of crocodile looks like it is a warning to you. The blurred hill adds concentration to these crocos.
Nice capture.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Bonjour Szili,
Paysage impressionnant !

Excellent shot with beautiful natural colors. One can just see the land through the haze. The crocodoles are very impressive. It is not a life jacket you should wear but a full size harness.
