One of the most interesting and curious places near the city of Konso is the village of Gesergio, commonly known as "New York". It is located at 18 kms from Konso and the local legend narrates that once time some sacred drums were stolen and consequently buried in the village of Gesergio. All the inhabitants of the village prayed in order that the drums would be back in their proper places and God himself came down on earth to recover them excavating with his proper hands. What remains after that was "New York", a landscape of pinnacles of sand formed by rains and winds.

je t'avoue que c'est le titre qui, associé à la miniature, qui m'a fait ouvrir la photo : pour moi cela ne représentait pas une vue de New York comme on a l'habitude de voir et cela m'a interpellé ;o) Je ne suis pas déçu. Le paysage est beau et impressionnant. Belle présence de ces habitants pour donner l'échelle. Bravo,

This looks like an amazing place! I love your photo with all the natural warm colours. I like that you have included people in your lanscape to add a bit extra, but it probably would have been just as good without them. A great scene well photographed.

What an incredible landscape. You have made this scene so much better by including the mother and children. It is so dense with detail, yet it doesn't seem busy to me. Great color and the red shirt the woman has on adds a fantastic contrast to the dominating earthtones. Amazing that it's known as New York, I understand though.

bellissima la legenda che hai scritto e bellissima anche la foto. Mi piace il ritratto di un'ordinaria famiglia "new york-ese" davanti al "skyline"... pero' che roba che fa la natura. Terra rossa e alberi verdi... incredibile contrasto di colori. Bella!

Very nice framing,
I find that the fact that you didnt include any sky plus the inclusion of the ladies really gives us an idea of the scale of the place. Its amazing you mlangaed to take this one without any annoying children interfereing in the photo as NY children were the most obnoxious of all ehtiopia

Great shot with the rocky background full of nice textures and colours framing so well these 3 persons. As I said before the colours are really amazing as the light is. The sense of scale caused by the human presence on the image is well caught.

Csodalatos tajkep!Az emberek jelenlete pedig total kiemeli a sziklak nagysagat, mintha elvesznenek a kepen olyan picik!Jelenletukkel viszont a foto eletrekel es tobb lesz egy puszta tajkepnel..Nagyon szepek a szinek is. Nem semmi, hogy ilyen helyeken jartal.
Regota nem hallattal magadrol! Hogy vagy, mi ujsag veled?

Csak kapkodom a fejem, olyan különleges helyekről adsz képriportokat egymás után! Most már meg kell kérdeznem: világjáróként vagy munka közben keresed fel ezeket az elképesztő helyeket?
Ismét érdekesen illesztetted össze a zsánerkép és a tájkép elemeit! Korábbi fotóidhoz hasonlóan nem csupán a különleges tájat mutatod meg, hanem belekomponáltad a hozzátartozó embert is. Azt hiszem a kép így lett igazán hiteles, a hely történetét és legendáját generációról-generációra továbbadók jelenlétével. Nagyon jó ötlet volt, hogy nem mutattad meg az eget, így a háttérben izzó sziklák misztikus végtelenséget és titokzatosságot sejtetnek. Ismét egy remek fotó!

Excellent shot with the two contrasting colours. Personally, I would rotate the picture slightly to the left. Think the oblique horizon of the rocks in the background is a bit distracting.
