Les champs de thé de Sahambavy
Nous sommes à Sahambavy, le « champ des femmes ». La succession de collines laisse apparaître des alignements parallèles à perte de vue, formant des strates d’un vert tendre et lumineux. En 1970, les premiers essais de transplantation de boutures originaires du Kenya ont été lancés. Grâce à une altitude de 1250 m et à un climat humide, les essais furent concluants. En 1978, naissait une société agro-industrielle, gérée par l’Etat. En 1996, les plantations furent privatisées. Aujourd’hui, le vaste domaine s’étale sur 335 hectares. 94 hectares sont gérés par les paysans eux-mêmes. C’est la seule plantation de thé de Madagascar. 80 % de la production est exportée, principalement vers Mombasa (Kenya), une des plus importantes bourses au thé du monde.
La photo a était faite par la fenêtre du train qui relie Fianarantsoa à Manakara.

Sahambavy tea fields
We are in Sahambavy, the "field of the women". The succession of hills lets appear parallel alignments as far as the eye can see, forming layers of a tender and luminous green. In 1970, the first tests of transplantation of cuttings originating in Kenya were launched. Thanks to an altitude of 1250 m and with a wet climate, the tests were conclusive. In 1978, was born an agro-industrial company, managed by the State. In 1996, the plantations were privatized. Today, the vast field lays out over 335 hectares. 94 hectares are managed by the peasants themselves. It’s the only plantation of tea in Madagascar. 80% of the production is exported, mainly to Mombasa (Kenya), one of the most important stock exchanges of the world for the tea.
Photo was made through the window of the train which connects Fianarantsoa to Manakara.

Hi Jean Pierre!
For a shot from a train it`s a good one.Not beeing able to search for the right POV you had a good timing.Good composition with the row of trees going uphill.Good lightmanagement too and nice different green tones.
Is this filter a polarizer or a grey one?

From a train??? Oh man, i would not think for a second on doing that. Yes i was hanging outside a train for taking a picture, but i shot never through a window of a rolling train.
I can believe you were in awe when passing this beautiful landscape and wished the train stopped for 20 sec, so you took your change in making a photo.
I don't want to talk about the composition, that could be much and much better....but considering it was taking from a train...hats off..!!!
The colours are hard, must be the light, but overall you managed very well...those green and blue are well presented.
Amazing...from a train...haha.

Comme toi, j'aime bien faire des photos depuis des trains ou des cars, lancés à pleine vitesse. Il y a du déchet, mais on est aussi agréablement surpris par certaines images comme celle-ci qui nous montre un beau paysage verdoyant. J'aime bien cette ligne d'arbres qui traversent le champ de thé pour rejoindre la crête et les nuages brisent la monotonie du ciel bleu.

mangifiqeu ces cahmps de thé, avec un cadrage très recherché. superbe.
On peut mettre du Rhum dans le thé, on fait aussi de belle sieste.

Hello Jean Pierre, very well compound scenery.
I like the scale of colors that conseguite in green and the variety of plants, which accompanied of this big sky, do of her a big postcard.

Very good quality, especially for being shot from the window of a train. I like the way the hedge goes up the hill to the horizon just like a giant caterpillar. The green landscape is topped off by a lovely sky.
