Photographer’s Note
I took this shot from a hostel in the medina of Fes. It really looks oriental as if Fes was a rather small village where the old ones walk across the streets to the Mosque in their Kaftans and everything is the same since hundreds of years...
An impression that could hardly be more wrong. The medina of Fes is a hectic and loud place - so far nothing special because medinas in general tend be that way. The other side of the medal is that you get the feeling that everything, and I mean everything, is made for tourists. Even if you see an old man with his donkey carrying loads of drapery it doesn't seem real. Maybe I am wrong here but everybody wants a piece of tourists money here. Well, its obvious that it's a reasonable way of earning your salary but in my opinion people sell their culture in a displeasing manner.
I see the fact that we, the tourists ruin this beautiful historic place because a huge amount of "foreigners" tend to be disrespectful when it comes to religion and local customes but there are others, too. As long as I am respectful towards anyone I actually can expect him to at least be friendly...
If anyone on TE disagrees with me or wants detail on what I am complaining about please get in touch with me.
Still Fes is a beautiful place with loads of things to see. Huge Mosques, colorful markets, huge fortifications and people from all over the place. It could be way more beautiful, though...

Hast Du daran was "gedreht"? Der Kommentar ist übrigens ganz große Klasse! Aber ... Du weißt schon.

Muggen,
