Photographer's Note

Namib Rand Desert Region. This lone tree surrounded by brush and smooth sand seemed to survive in the arid landscape. The biggest hazard for photographers is sand. I took lots of sealable plastic bags to put lenses and cameras in whilst travelling as the dust just got everywhere. The film survived in temperatures up to 45 deg C, although we had cool boxes in the landrover for drinks we were advised that more problems would be created by condensation when removing the film from a cool box than by keeping it out all the time. This advice worked - I processed 90 rolls of slide film with no problems.
