Murambi Genocide Memorial Site near the town of Gikongoro. "Only" one of the many slaughtered children, who may represent all the murdered and every day murdering children of Africa.
Love and peace...and bla,bla,bla...
Murambi was a technical school in 1994 and used to collect and kill tens of thousands of Tutsi and moderate Hutu. Men, women and children were slaughtered here in 1994 and the population are determined that it never be forgotten. For this reason, while many are buried in mass graves at the front of the site, hundreds more bodies have been preserved and layed out in the old classrooms for visitors to see.
The bodies in some cases show the last minutes of life, with open mouths, arms shielding faces from the machete blows, mothers holding babies to their chests. Machete blows can be seen on skulls. See the WS, if you want!
The smell is horrific but is nothing compare to what these people went through in their last moments.
It may seem sick to want to go and see corpses on display like this, but the Rwandan people want the world to know what went on. They want to make sure that it doesn't happen to them and other people again.
I invite everybody to go there before travelling to Polynesia, Carribeans, Maldives, etc. or before/after visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau, only for some minutes, to see and to take a deep breathe!

what happened in Rwanda is all the more horrible because it could have been prevented. but, as it happens all to often, the talking took too much time. sometimes I think that the proceedings of the Criminal Tribunal should take place in a room like this.
and hat off to those in Rwanda who had the courage to create a memorial like this. not with toys, not with dummies. I wish it would remain the last and only memorial of this kind.
regards,
Kristine

Thank you for uploading this photo, Attila! Thank you for being brave to show us the truth. Because (sadly) nowdays bravery is needed to tell or show the truth.
For those who may won't agree with uploading a photo a dead child's body: This is a part of the world's history. This is the dark side, but it shouldn't be forgotten and hidden. It should be shown to admonish people that it can happen again. The more people know about it, the more can do anything agains it.

It´s disturbing to look at this scene and unfortunately things like this are still happening. Will it ever stop? I agree with Chrisitne(CMJC) that peace in the world is a dream but we have to be optimistic

It is quite incredible to see just how inhumane our world has become. Each atrocity seems to outdo the last. Will it ever end?
Thanks for reminding us of this dreadful genocide.

Hi Attila!
Had seen a lot about this war but didn't know this place existed. Shocking but powerful and really adequate for the theme. I like the note too!

Hi Atilla,
It's really scarry to see but also very painful. I hardly read about the details you put in your note about the corpes. Especially, seeing the little kid who is trying to reach something and looks very unprotective, makes me say how a human being can do this?! Ahh...People who did this can not be human...
God bless us!!!

Blood-curdling scene and tragic event! Realities of everyday life just in front of our eyes!
Reminding this kind of events is a need for all the civilized countries.
It is required to keep profound silence!
Warm regards,

Szia Attila,

Hola Attila.
For the sake of thousands and thousands of children, women and men that where murdered in cold blood we should make an effort to prevent that this genocides never are going to be forgiven.

Grazie Attila per averci riportato con i piedi per terra. Queste immagini fanno male agli occhi, ma servono, eccome che servono, per farci capire la bestia umana. Hai coraggio, ti ammiro.

Hi Attila,
I think it´s also necessary to post photographs like this. To keep the happenings in mind, and not to forget..to have the chance to realize it earlier, and maybe prevent the next time. I knew about the massacres, but I didn´t know that there is a memorial like this one.
Compliments....

Szia Attila,
the first view reminded my to something like the concentrations camps as you wrote in your note. Not to forget, as this is not history it is still presence. Let us work for a change.
