Photographer's Note
This is from Jakaria Street, Chitpur area in Kolkata (calcutta). The cook and servers were having a busy time with many customers. The rice dish is called 'Biriyani', prepared with rice and meat said to have originated among the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent.
I did not taste the Biriyani or the meat dish that the cook was preparing (Cleanliness and hygiene being at the back of my mind) but the scent was amazingly good.

a good street capture. I also would not have eaten the biriyani but that's only because I don't eat meat. Freshly cooked street food I normally find is fine to eat.

Hello Satya,
I would also have refrained from eating here, but I don't doubt your description of the delicious scent. This is in any case a very enjoyable street photo. The light and mild colours are excellent and it tells us something about life and culture in India. There are also quite many interesting details to observe further down the street.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Satya,
A good daily life photo of those people around the large bowls of dishes. I like the pretty narrow composition you used and you handled the lighting and sharpness very well.

Hi Satya
Looks like a hand in the biriyani. I always thought it was usually cooked in an oven. A good interesting photo and I can just about smell it here.
cheers

I just love those daily life scenes, Satya. Tis looks quite tast. Then again, I suppose lots of visitors might be put off by the forearm disappearing wholly into the food! I can understand your decision not to try it, then again...maybe...

Hello Satya,
These men expect a lot of customers to see the amount, but despite the wonderful scent I would not eat here because hygiene does not seem indeed to be the highest priority.
Excellent observation!
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hi Satya, food pics are always interesting for me...ehhee...this is a good dish,no doubts,it seems an indian version of arab cous-cous,a perfect capture as usual very sharp despite the dark light. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Satya,
I have tried biriyani in Siliguri Junction from a restaurant. I am always reluctant to eat street food such as this, for hygiene reasons, particularly if travelling alone. Tfs!

Hello Satya,
I've often eaten biriyani in a restaurant.
It's usually an abundant dish in India.
Just like you, I didn't eat it in the street.
But it is wonderful to see it prepared.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Satya,
You are right to be careful of hygiene. The local people are used to the conditions and rarely suffer but others can very quickly pick up stomach complaints!
It is a very interesting scene though! This outdoor cooking establishment looks ready to cater for a lot of customers!
You have included the workers in a nice, f/g triangle, their involvement clearly shown.
What a pity smells and noises can't be included, for I'm sure they would have excited our senses!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Satya, Interesting scene from the Indian street. I like street food, it is fresh and safer than in the restaurants. I have never had any problems with health. it looks tasty, and with meat. I am far from being vegetarian and sometimes I suffered without meat (in Rajasthan, especially). Excellent composition.
Kind regards MAlgo
