Photographer's Note

My last upload consisted of three photos of people I met in the Indian city of Bhuj in 1985. Here are three more.

None of these photos may be particularly good from a technical point of view, and they are not perfectly composed because the conditions in the streets of this crowded city did not always allow for perfection. But they represent fond memories of a remote city on the outskirts of the large Thar desert, where traditions seemed to be remarkably strong. My last photo showed a boy in a very traditional dress, and here is a woman in an embroidered blouse of the same style. I saw her selling bracelets and other trinkets in the street. Her face tells me of mild amusement, mixed with some scepticism of my camera.

Here is a larger version.

One workshop shows old and young people of Bhuj, in another you will meet a chai wallah.

I plan to remain in Bhuj for my next upload.
