One more from the walls of Bhubaneswar .
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner, who has taken up the beautification of Bhubaneswar is in a much happier mode, because she has been able to kill two birds with one stone.
With the decision to cover the walls of the Capital City with rural and natural paintings, on one hand she has been able to save the walls from the onslaught of the nude posters with ugly writings and on the other the empowerment of the poorly paid artists was taken up.
Here the walls are decorated with the paintings of Odissi dance which is like other forms of Indian classical dance, the Odissi style traces its origins back to antiquity. One of the most characteristic features of Odissi dance is the Tribhangi. The concept of Tribhang divides the body into three parts, head, bust, and torso. Any posture which deals with these three elements is called tribhangi. This concept has created the very characteristic poses which are more contorted than found in other classical Indian dances. The Odissi (Orissi) dance is the Indian classical dance from the Eastern state of Odissa. It has a long, yet broken tradition. Although dance in Odissa may be traced back more than 2000 years, it was brought to near extinction during the colonial period. Therefore, modern Odissi dance is a reconstruction. |

Hi Radeeh, this is an interesting series... Vivid colours for those paintings, I am not sure that the trees will love it but I do ! Are those little silhouettes are also seen painted on the houses ?
The photo would appear even more interesting if there were some persons passing by but that's not always possible I guess, otherwise I like the colours a lot and the repetitions with the trees...
TFS, Best regards,
Cath.
Even the trees are used for paintings
Superbly taken this image
Have a nice Sunday
