Photographer's Note

Continuation of yesterday's story:
... She is the first woman whom I talked to, among the three... When I said I'd better go, she made a sign which clearly meant not to move and went slowly in the back of the hut. Then, she climbed upstairs by the small stepladder you can see in the background. She came down with two bananas in hand and put it straightly on my bag. Her face was so serious; I knew it was unnecessary to protest. I was conscious that she had made a sacrifice (there's really not much fruits available on the island) and I was very confused. But I was thinking also, when I saw she was crying, that these two bananas would be, maybe, what would keep me strong enough to carry on my way. These two bananas were already precious, by the generosity of her gesture. And would become even more precious later, when I'll have no more power.
