Photographer's Note

One of the most fascinating urban spaces on the planet, Kathmandu's Durbar Square is a delight to wander around. Its pagodas, palaces, and pavillions marry stylistic influences from India, Tibet, and China, while its plazas and streets are lined by an odd-ball ensemble of tourist knick knacks and vegetable sellers, worshippers and lovers. While the area was significantly damaged during the 2015 earthquake, restoration efforts are underway, and it is hoped that the Durbar Square will regain its former glory in the near future.
