Photographer's Note

When I arrived in Banaue, the small town near these terraces, I thought I had travelled 12 hours up a mountain in an overnight bus (with unbearably cold air conditioning) to a location where picture perfect photography would be out of the question. It was raining, with grey cloudy skies that seemed to be set in. The next day, the weather hadnt improved, so I thought my limited time in this region of Philippines would not transcend well to film (or file), which was quite disheartening.

I arranged to go ahead the following day and still see the '8th wonder of the world', the Bataad Rice Terraces, still with damp weather in the atmosphere, but throughout the day it miraculously cleared up to this - sunny and blue skies. I was overjoyed that I could witness the terreaces in this light afterall, and while I felt I would never get a 'clear' shot like this, well, I did! So the moral is, the weather can change to your advantage at any time, and when you least expected. Especially in high places like this.
