Another shot from yesterday, taken in the Shopping District of Orchard Road on my way home from work.
As I've been left with only my 75-300mm lens in my repertoire since selling my Canon 300D, I've been forced to look at things from a whole new angle.... a far far away angle!
I spotted this composition from the side walk 5 lanes across Orchard Road. I liked the big and bold neon of the Orange Julius sign, and the phonebooth advertisement with the guy and binoculars.
The guy in the ad seems to be doing as I was... people watching.

Post Production: Slight rotation, cropping, semi desaturation, sharpening, and frame added.

Hi Dan!
Great capture ...
I like how you managed to play with the b+w and the colours.
Nino

Hi Dan
Lovely play with B&W and nice compo. Great job you did on this one again.
Take care, Albrecht

Hey Dan,

Well in my opinion, this shot did not get enough attention. I just love it. The PP work is great, I am a fan of partial desaturation and this is a very good exemple of this.
The sharpness is perfect and you have really chosen a very interesting place to take the shot. With a tele lense on top of that!
And the commercial add with the guy looking at us, well that's just icing on the cake.

Very nicely done - Paul

I like how you framed this one Dan, and the way the post processing worked to enhance that. This is a fine focus on the advertising around these people. It's bold and punchy, both the neon and the kisok. The people become part of the grey background in the world of advertising, more the objects than the subjects of streets. The mix of what people are doing also enhances it. Some people are being taken in by the bright signs and others are able to continue on through. I wonder what it would have been like to keep the menu in color. Maybe that would have been too much, though. I just wonder because that could be a third layer, the kiosk being foreground, the neon being middle and the menu being back. Or if not that the partial advertisement we get in the real background. Perhaps if that were colorful I would have liked that. But I defintely like the scene and the use of partial desaturation. It makes for a nice strong street scene.

Good shot! Way to go!

Very informative..Thanks for posting..Keep up your good work.

Hola Dan,

Excelente y creativa imagen, me gusta el toque de desaturación que has realizado en esta fotografia, creo que has acertado con los colores, buen trabajo!

Saludos

José
