Climbing the volcano... Photo

Photographer’s Note

In the climbing of the Pacaya, if you were tired you could use this horses to arrive to the base of the volcano (and from there...only 30' on foot climbing....).

All the groups had 4 horses (a group = 14-15 people....) and usually anyone use it.

Here we have a picture of one of those ridders, who are working 8 hours every day, when we were resting during the trip.

I think the horseman seems a bit worried, maybe he is afraid someone will not make it hehehe!
A fine composition where both models pose well, I think I see smoke in the frame or maybe it is fog...

Hi Oscar,

Wow, climbing Pacaya! I also climbed it and without any horses. Rather misty day, so how was the view from the top? It is wonderful experience, seeing red lava in the crater and feeling warm ground. Thanks for sharing

Superb scene of life with this young boy and its horse. The horse and the boy arise very well in the green of the vegetation. Excellent fralming, attitudes very well collected. An image full of athmospher.

saps que? En ocasiones veo caballos muertos... és que ha estat veure la foto i enrecordar-me d'aquests famosos cavalls...

Ara en serio... molt bona, sobretot amb la boira aquesta. Encara que el nen fa una cara... no sé si estava gaire content de veure't per allà!

Ola Oscar,
Very nice moment captured here, capturing the young porter or the helper at rest. I did similar trip in peru up on the Ande where they use horses to carry our food and water and tent for sleeping. They people work very hard and so do the horses. Even in this mist, the quality is excellent with very nice atmosphere. I like it.

this IS a great photo with such an obvious mood! One of the best "photos with a mood" I've seen :) I like the misty atmosphere which makes the image slightly blurred, but it adds a lot of mood to it... and the sitting boy, too! and I wonder if he is very tired... or maybe a bit too serious - or every slightly angry?
Excellently composed shot!
