Photographer’s Note

Coban is the capitol of the province Alta Verapaz, the center of the coffey of Guatemala. It's a smal scaled town with a relaxed atmosphere where you find mostly Ladinos but Mayas (like here on the left) visit also the town to sell their products.

Hello Gerrit.
I like this daily life scene. I have been looking closely at the various people in it for several minutes. It's perhaps the first shot I have from Guatemala that I have looked at; I associate the country with poverty and government that is far from benign. The colours and detail are excellent; even poor people dress with pride and elegance as the Mayan women show.
