Photographer's Note

A view from the Berat Castle / Citadel looking east towards summer storm clouds and a rainbow. The fortress atop a hill is well worth climbing up. A tip when coming downhill. The flagstones are black and white. One of those 2 were very slippery so I made a point not to stand on the slippery color.

Hello Chris,
Lucky for me it didn't rain when I visited Berat so there was little danger of slipping on any wet stones. I may have identified this, possibly, as somewhere in Albania, but it doesn't ring a bell of Berat. But I remember there were many nice views from the citadel. It seems there had just been a shower that somehow refreshened the air and colours. The rainbow is a great bonus.

Chris, the fortress offers a stunning view of the surrounding hills. Traditional houses are included in the fg. The rainbow in the far bg prettifies the picture. Fine colors, good image quality, regards.

A great landscape with a mix of green and yellow tones. The rainbow over the gentle slopes and in front of the bluish haze is wonderful. Also the small white houses with their orange roof tiles are well included in the foreground.

Attractive landscape opens behind slightly covered with the fog.

Hello Chris,

You had a great vantage point here, right across the landscape.
The view is amazing but with the weather conditions, giving brightness in the f/g, to a misty mountain in the b/g, divided by a rainbow, what more could you ask for! The scene is beautiful and very well captured.

Excellent high viewpoint to this green landscape. I guess this view hasn't changed much for decades. The air is a bit hazy, but the rainbow is always a welcome detail.

Great photo of Berat! Of course the rainbow is the star here but the sunlight on the whitewashed houses, the greenery in the foreground and the mountains in the distance make it a very beautiful photo indeed.

who doesn't enjoy a good rainbow shot right?
you say this was taken from the Castle? There are homes just right in front, so close you can hit them with a stone. nice warm orange light and ambience, looks good to me. cheers
