Photographer's Note

With less than a quarter of the crowds of Hvar Town and under 1/2 the price, Vrboska makes for a pleasant 2 day stay before diving into the much more touristy Hvar Town. Both are on the island of Hvar but are worlds apart in pace and atmosphere.

Hello Chris,
It looks like a very quiet and slow-going town, nice and pretty but rather lacking atmosphere. I guess people going here, like the family seen in the photo, are not asking much for atmosphere but just a quiet holiday, which is perfectly understandable. The curving quay makes for a nice composition, with the boat and large flower-pot doing well as balancing features. The trees and brick roofs along the street provide nice colours and the family is well placed. Clarity and colours are superb.

Hello Chris,

Before I read your notes, I had absorbed the sense of tranquility and slow pace of life.
It's the presence of only a few people, no massive hoardings and the flat water, creating a most attractive reflection, that creates this mood.
Lovely clarity and well saturated colours.

I've never been in Hvar but heard a lot about it. I guess it attracts so many people looking for a historic and very picturesque place.
When people need more rest, they come to this place.

Hello Chris, There are so many beautiful places on the Croatian islands. And more charming is the visiting the less known and crowded cities. I like the quiet atmosphere here very much. Wonderful blossoming trees.
