With this classic postcard shot from my beloved city, I wish you and your families all the best for the next year!

On the picture you can see the well-known Hosok tere/Heroe's Square, with the Millennium Monument. It was built for the Hungarian Millenium in 1896 to commemorate 1000 years of Hungarian history. In the center you can see a 36 meter high column with the Archangel Gabriel and equestrian statues of the 7 Magyar leaders (namely Arpad, Elod, Ond, Kond, Tas, Huba, Tohotom) who conquered the territory.
At the base of the column is the National War Memorial, also known as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where leaders from other countries come to pay homage laying wreaths and where Hungary remembers those who have died defending their homeland.
The two parts of colonnade in the background shows in chronological order rulers, kings and princes of Hungary. You can find more detailed infos here.
This is my favourite place in the capital because through the sculptures of the most important notables of the past, all the Hungarian history is summing up there. In addition to it, on the left side of the square you can find the building of the Museum of Fine Arts, and on the right the Palace of Arts. Behind the square, there is the City Park with a lot of recreation possibilities.

great nocturnal shot of an impressive place that I visited in 1976! It has not changed, the monument to the Heroes stays so elegant and spectacular as always. I like the illumination that emphasizes the monument on background so dark and heightens its beauty and its golden tones.

passato bene il capodanno? Noi eravamo a casa come dei pensionati... no, peggio... I pensionati sono andati a ballare tutta la notte, mentre noi a dormire gia' all'una ;))
Mi ricordo di questo monumento... penso che era 1990 quando ero a Budapest per un weekend con la mia ex ditta e con i colleghi di lavoro... Penso che lo sai che cos'e' "sindikalni izlet". Bellissima la scena notturna qui ma non so se i riflessi nel marmo sono dovuti alla pioggia, ma non importa, e' bellissima.

I like this palce too :). Few years ago I was in Budapest (when the old year was finishing...) and I also visited this beautiful, historical place. Then there was a lot of snow :).
So great night photo with good lighting and reflections on the floor. Good framing too. And I have to mention about perfect quality of this picture. I like it very much :)
