Vilnius was always open to different cultures, customs, and nations and the many churches of the capital of Lithuania reflect this fact, adorning the medieval city's skyline.
Among all of these churches, I've chosen to upload one of the less known and photographed: the St. Catherine's Church and the Benedictine Nunnery.
Benedictine nuns arrived in Vilnius in 1622 and built a wooden church and nunnery, which was burned down by the Russians in 1655. In 1703, a stone church was rebuilt under the name of St. Catharine. However, after acquiring its present appearance after a reconstruction finished in 1773 by the architect, J. K. Glaubitz, the church was damaged in 1812 and again during World War II, but was restored again afterwards.
Now the building is in the baroque style with rococo decorations.

Hi Attila,
Well composed image, even if the church was not shot from the front side. The colours are very beautiful and bright, and the sky makes great background for this building which was obviously reconstructed not a long time ago.
The only thing I'm a bit bothered is the left tower which is slightly leaning counterclockwise - perhaps it would be better if it was straigthened as I think it is a central vertical element in your photo.
Neverthelees your image is excellent :)

Your setting offers us a good perspective of the street in an image with a lot of depth, and allows that we should enjoy this beautiful baroque architecture, with a very elegant and attractive colours in its fronts and in its apse.

Gyönyörű fotó. Úgy látom, hogy a fénnyel írás szentháromsága teljes fegyverzetében állt rendelkezésedre ennél a felvételnél: a téma mesés, a képkivágás látványos és élvezetes, a fények elsőrangúak. Az előtérben sétáló emberek kellemes-otthonos hatást nyújtanak, a jobb oldalon üldögélőkkel egyetemben. A napokban fiatal fotós ismerősöm zaklattam, ne várjon városképeinél arra, hogy egy lélek se legyen a fényképezőgép látószögében. Hacsak a téma nem kívánja a puszta aszfaltot, kifejezetten jót tesz a képnek az emberi elem - példaképpen képeid tanulmányozását is ajánlottam a TE oldalain.
A templommal kapcsolatban figyelemreméltó részlet, hogy még sosem láttam a főhajó hátsó díszítéseként hasonlót, mint a képen látható hosszház főhomlokzat, mivel ezek az épület tömegképzésében a főbejárati résznél szoktak állni. Igazán különleges részlet, ráadásként örömteli, hogy úgy tűnik, Litván barátaink jól állnak fővárosuk tatarozásával. Sokat mesélő és gyönyörű kép, Gratulálok! Szép napokat és fényeket,

It's stunning in so many ways!... There is the pov, the clarity, the colours (that pink is really catchy), the life on the street... Even the cars, that usually are so annoying don't disturb it.
The perspective, although unrealistic (the point of fugue is reversed, being below instead of up isn't it?), results great here (I wonder why...)

It's really a nice church and place filled with nice buildings all around. I like this street shot even if the cars are included, unfortunately for us who try to avoid them while we are taking photos, but they also are part of our towns and cities.
I like a lot the architecture of this church and its peach colour against this nice blue clouded sky.

Fantastic shot. The colors are rich and properly saturated and the composition is very nice. The building and cars on the left create a nice counterweight to the massive church.
