Photographer's Note

Recently Rob (alvaraato) posted a picture of a bicycle rack, not only was it well designed but it was pleasing to look at.

'Applied Arts' made me recall these chairs/stool that I photographed when we last visited the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. And how designers can continue to create items that are functional and as the title says 'Variations on a theme.'

The red seat is 'Rocking Chair' designed by Ron Arad.
"I milled and sanded Corian laminate." Acquired by the museum in 2004.

The white stool was designed by Frenchman Patrick Jouin. It is 3D printed polyamide. Acquired in 2012.

As for the black and gold chair, apologies, I cannot find any information about this piece.

In the w/s another group of chairs.

Thanks for looking.
