Rembrandt van Rijn (1606 - 1669) is considered to be one of the greatest painters in Dutch history, in the center of Amsterdam there is a square named after the painter and a statue of Rembrandt from 1852.
In 2006 (400th birthday of Rembrandt) Russian artists Mikhail Dronov and Alexander Taratynov created a number of figures depicting persons in his most famous painting "Night Watch". The bronze sculptures traveled for three-years to New York City, Moscow and Oranienbaum, Russia. In 2012, the bronze Night Watch sculptures returned to the square where they serve as an attraction for tourists

Hello Ryszard,
I wasn't aware of this place or these statues, but they give the square a remarkable character. Otherwise the surrounding buildings look rather ordinary, so this may have been a great local face-lift. The colours and light are as excellent as always.

Hello Ryszard, I was totally unaware of this square with these interesting figures, something to look out for on another visit.
Quite an achievement on the part of the artists!
Great placing, as the statue of Rembrandt looks down!

Ciekawa prezentacja pomnika tego malarza z postaciami z jego obrazu. Nie slyszalem wczesniej o tym projekcie - dzieki za udostenienie.
Szczegolowy kadr - mozna porownac figury postaci z realnym obrazem mistrza :)

An excellent photo of Rembrandtplein on a beautiful and sunny day. A great photo of the sculptures of the Night Watch in front of the statue of the master himself. Superb colours as well, the green/blue backdrop is appealing.

bardzo atrakcyjna prezentacja na temat Rembrandta.
Zastanawiam sie tylko czy to byl dobry pomysl: ten jeden pomnik malarza ladnie dekoruje placyk, ale tez zbior rzezb wydaje mi sie troche jak skladowisko niechcianych pomnikow jak kiedys w Polsce kiedy pozbywano sie pomnikow Lenina... Moze troche przedobrzyli?
Jest to bez watpienia fotogeniczne i pieknie to pokazales w dodatku pogoda dopisala i w tle przyjemne drzewa ale rowniez chmurka na niebia i jakis ciekawy budynek.

Last time I was in Amsterdam I did see the "Night Watch" but didn't stumble across this impressive monument to the great artist. Good photo.

A square dedicated to him and interesting that he's not alone up there! It is a powerful image of great sculptures of various characters, good pov and sharp in focus with tons of detail on the bronze! Green gives a nice break of colour incidentally, just to attract more attention to the subject.. Excellent capture and accompanying notes. Congrats

Ryszard, the main sculpture was erected in tribute to the worldwide famous painter Rembrandt. The smaller sculptures around it represent people with weapons. Fine colors, good image quality, interesting photo note, regards.
