Photographer's Note

This is probably the nearest castle from my home town Tarnow, except the castle in my home town itself which was not preserved. I am ashamed to admit it, but I learned about this castle quite late in my life when I was already living abroad. Since then it was on my list of places to visit but the final straw was the fact that emka has visited it last year. I really needed to visit it asap.
I start with a classical view, slightly different angle than emka presented here.

Nowy Wiśnicz Castle
The castle was raised by Jan Kmita in the second half of the fourteenth century in the Baroque architectural style with Renaissance elements. It was built on the plan of the quadrilateral with the inner courtyard. The castle has four towers, with one in each corner. It is surrounded by bastion fortifications and the main gate from the early 17th century. In the 1590s and 1610s, it had a four-wing structure, three towers and fortifications surrounding the castle with two gates. During the Deluge the Swedes looted and destroyed the castle. The restoration works have never been completed.
