The Vasco da Gama Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge flanked by viaducts and roads that spans the Tagus River near Lisbon. It is the longest bridge in Europe, with a total length of 17.2 km, including 0.829 km for the main bridge (visible on the photo), 11.5 km in viaducts, and 4.8 km in dedicated access roads.
The bridge was opened to traffic on March 29, 1998, in time for Expo 98, the World's Fair that celebrated the 500th anniversary of the discovery by Vasco da Gama of the sea route from Europe to India.
The picture was taken from the Vasco da Gama Tower (photo posted in the WS), a 145m high lattice tower built in 1998 for the Expo 98 World's Fair. At the 120m level, there was an observation deck and, just below it, a luxury panoramic restaurant. At the base of the tower was a three-storey building that served as the European Union Pavilion during the expo. Both the observation deck and the restaurant were closed in 2001(!?) and this surprises me, because I took from the deck this and other shots in 2002.

You found a great POV for this photo of the bridge. It looks great with the town nicely seen in the background and the sidelight is very pleasant. The sky with the clouds is enhancing. Well done!

You got the perfect time for an excellent shot. The light was superb and that sky simply marvellous. May be bit too soft, probably due to a noise reducing pass. Otherwise the POV is very good and the clear day allowed a quite deep view behind the bridge. Well done.

Che bei colori e che bella vista sul ponte, Attila! Quando sono stato a Lisbona non sono salito sulla torre e vedo che mi sono perso qualcosa! Per me Lisbona spettacolare, se trovassi una casa ad Alfama quasi quasi potrei lasciare l'Africa!

Hello Attila,
Well this one I know well :) But still you manage to get a quite original ppov from the Vasco da Gama Tower. The depth of the photo is really amazing as the view of the bridge itself.
There seems to be a slight softness on the sky, maybe a bit of Neat Image in excess, but having in mind that this is a scanned image it's quite good.
The light you got is really beautiful!

Hi Attila,

Here it is a view that I recognise easily but I had never seen before, either "alive" or in photo (yes, I confess I have never climbed the tower, God knows why).

It's a wonderful view, very well composed and featuring great colours and sharpness. Maybe the noise reduction or anything in the PP makes the clouds a bit unrealistic, but certainly also very beautiful also.

Fantasztikus, nagyon jó minőségűek a szkennelt képeid.
Itt a három kiválóan elkülönülő rész tetszik a legjobban: ég, tenger, föld. De szépek a színek és az élesség is tökéletes.
Egyetlen észrevétel: mintha a kép egy hangyányit dőlne balra (nemcsak a híd miatt).

This is one of the more photographed subjects around Lisboa, but you managed to find a new point of view!

Well composed with superb depth and clarity of detail. The lighting is idyllic, and I like the shadow effects to the left. The green grassy area with the curving walkway really takes the eye and nicely balances the expanse of water. The bridge is indeed seen from a different and less imposing perspective, yet its beauty well appreciated. This is a finely conceived and crafted shot, Attila. Congrats. I like it very much.

Először is a híd szerkezete lenyűgöző.
Nagyon szép nézőpontot választottál és a dramatikus ég is sokat ad a képhez.

Hi Attila,
Such a high POV is fantastic and offers us an image depth almost infinite, in a good setting.
The geometry and the cables of the bridge have a nice graphism, and the light offers you a few long and beautiful shades.
I like much the texture of the water and of the sky, have a silky very elegant and agreeable aspect.
The scanned one is perfect, there is a great quality of image in this photo.

Stupenda visione che sembra essere quasi un dipinto. Scattata con una delle lenti che piu' apprezzo, hai saputo ottenere un risultato finale invidiabile come qualita' d'insieme.
Ho ereditato da poco una F100 e una F5 e non vedo l'ora di iniziare a divertirmi (poco poco che rischio di passare dal digitale alla pellicola).

Hi Attila,
After scannig from a print, do you use NeatImage to get this grainless and sharp result?
Because some friends also want to scan their photos, but are upset with low quality.

The POV is great, and the clouds are fantastic. I hope you also ate well in this luxury restaurant, as well as taking nice photos :)

I'm seeing all of your pictures and I've become a total fan of your photographs!
It's impossible to comment on all of them at the moment, but they're all in my list of favorite ones, that's for sure!
Through them I really learn about several places around the world and also revisit them in "grand style", like in this one, because I were there in 2004!
