Photographer's Note

Kriváň (Elevation 2,495 m) is a mountain in the High Tatras, Slovakia, that dominates the upper part of the former Liptov County.
Multiple surveys among nature lovers have ranked it as the country's most beautiful peak. It has also been a major symbol in Slovak ethnic and national activism for the past two centuries. The name (bent or crooked) reflects the angled appearance of its shape when viewed from the west and south.
At the forefront you can see consequences after big windstorm from 2004, which destroyed almost half of the central part of the Tatras forests with a total area of 25,000 hectares.
