Photographer’s Note

After my series on Andorra, today I begin another small series on an icon of my city, Barcelona, and that is known in the whole world, The House Milà, also called "La Pedrera” (Quarry), work of Antoni Gaudí.

The House Milà is a building that seems to be alive, with a few wavy lines full of dynamism and with a few decorative elements in its front, its balconies, its court, its roof, really impressive. Its situation in a corner of the Passeig de Gràcia allows to enjoy its beauty without interferences, something that is impossible in other one of the Gaudí’s masterpieces, the House Batlló.

There are many photos of this building in TE, for this reason I have tried a different, more closed and abstract setting, in which I liked the presence of the tourist taking photos in the sloping roof.

Después de mis series sobre Andorra, hoy comienzo otra pequeña serie sobre un icono de mi ciudad, Barcelona, y que es conocido en todo el mundo, La Casa Milà, también llamada “La Pedrera”, de Antoni Gaudí.

La Casa Milà es un edificio que parece estar vivo, con unas líneas onduladas llenas de dinamismo y con unos elementos decorativos en su fachada, sus balcones, su patio, su azotea, realmente impresionantes. Su situación en una esquina del Passeig de Gràcia permite disfrutar de su belleza sin interferencias, algo que es imposible en otra de las obras maestras de Gaudí, la Casa Batlló.

Hay muchas fotos de este edificio en TE, por esta razón he intentado un encuadre diferente, más cerrado y abstracto, en el que me gustó la presencia del turista tomando fotos en la azotea inclinada.

En WS presento una vista general de esta maravilla.

on dirait presque une image déformée comme dans un reflet dans l'eau. BOnne idée d'avoir incliné l'image pour renforcer cet effet

Bonjour Josep,
un tilt qui ajoute des obliques curieusement ondulées. Mais c'est de l'esthtique pure.
Un endroit souvent montré sur TE mais sous d'autres angles.
Faut-il le dire tellement c'est flagrant, cette photo est bien exposée, et d'un piqué très précis.

The was the first place we visited when we went to Barcelona. It is truly an amazing building. I think the tilt works well to show the building differently from what has been done before. The way you have framed it gives it a kind of symmetry. I also like the more traditional shot in the WS, which shows the architecture in more detail. Well done

Gadí did something fantastic! His archietcture is unique and inimitable.
You found a dirrent view on this well known building! I like the 45°rotation and the warm morning lights of the sun. The waves give dyanmism to the photo. Oh, and I've just found the small human element on the top of the roof, it also looks good!

Pelo que se pode ver no WS, este é um prédio de apartamentos (residências). Imagino o preço que será para se viver num prédio desenhado por um artista do calibre do Gaudí.
Geralmente não gosto de fotos inclinadas mas, devo admitir que neste caso particular a ideia é fabulosa e que se integra perfeitamente na originalidade do Gaudí.

Josep, encore une photo comme celle-ci et je pars pour Barcelone. C'est un projet que je pense réaliser un jour. Ton cadrage serré met en valeur les vagues voulues par Gaudi pour cette façade. On est loin des immeubles bêtement cubiques construits dans beaucoup de villes. Un homme comme Gaudi nous amène à voir l'architecture moderne comme de l'art.

Bonjour Josep,

Voilà un tilt bienvenu ici pour mettre en valeur cette architecture vraiment atypique et merci pour l'image originale en WS qui nous permet d'apprécier le bâtiment dans son entier. La lumière est très agréable accentuant les ondulation de la façade. Joli coup d'oeil, bravo Josep. Et je vois que ton petit fils grandit vite... sacré regard !!!

Bonsoir,
belle photo de ce bâtiment pris sous cet agréable POV qui dans cette diagonale agrandit la largeur visible du bâtiment(Pytagore).
Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté.
Les détails de celle ci sont beaucoup plus visible que sur votre WS, normal car beaucoup plus grands.

Bonjour, mon bon ami Josep,
L'architecte s'est libéré de toute contrainte stylistique, transformer un immeuble en sorte de falaise troglodyte, s'amuser avec les formes, transcender l'architecture. Mais à y regarder de plus près, il me semble que c'est essentiellement sur la façade que l'architecte "a joué" sur les formes, l'on sent que derrière celle-ci, les contributions architectoniques sont respectées.
En tout cas, une chose est sûre, les photographies sont étonnantes et sont particulièrement intéressantes. J'aurais bien voulu visiter l'intérieur de cet immeuble.

Una magnifica composición con la impresionante arquitectura de La Casa Milà de Antoni Gaudí. Tu encuadre y la desviacion de la foto están estupendas y realzan mas el famoso edificio, la verdad que hacen mucho mas interesante tu composición. Muy buenos colores y POV.

bueno, que decir, pues que Gaudi inspira a innovar, a buscar otra formas de ver las cosas, y tu lo has puesto de manifiesto en esta escena.

Un encuadre inusual, original y con mucha calidad. Buen manejo de la luz, para detallar bellas tonalidades y alta nitidez.

This is a great presentation of this unique building! I love the tight crop and the diagnonal view, which makes the architecture seem even more surreal. It is also great that you were able to capture a tourist taking photos. The wavy lines of the facade make the building seem alive, and in the thumbnail there is almost the illusion of ripples. Very nice!

Olá Josep, fantastic tilt detail of this famous facade, which is my favorite work of Gaudi. The WS is excellent as well, but this artistic composition is more pleasing. Even the tourist on the roof is a nice bonus.

Holá Josep.
Este ès uno de los monumentos más fotografados de Barcelona pero este angulo ès muy original y me gusta mucho ver la creatividad.
Como dice Bertrand esto mas parece un reflejo en una vitrolla que crea su deformacion y ollas.
La persona que se ve cerca de la borda nos da bien la sensacion de la grandeza del edificio.

Those luscious building curves could only be Gaudi in Barcelolona! Of the many photos I've seen of this spectacular work, I like yours best. Detail and color are impeccable but it is the framing that makes it my favorite. I always think that the best photos of an area are taken by those who live there.
