This is Skeppsbron (The Ship’s bridge) in the Old Town of Stockkholm. Skeppsbron is a steet and quay (Skeppsbrokajen) stretching from Strömbron (the Stream Bridge) to Slussen (the Lock) Along Skeppsbron there are 24 buildings that follows where there was a city wall in medival times. Eleven of the buildings are seen in this picture. Most of the buildings were constructed in the 17th and 18 th century. The spire belongs to Tyska kyrkan (the German Church) Its history dates back to medival times when there was an abundant number of German merchants and craftsmen in Stockholm.
The boats are M/S Teaterskeppet and M/S Södertörn. M/S Teaternskeppet was built in 1959 in Portugal in Navais de Viana do Castelo and was delivered to the Faroe Island under the name of Vágbingur. During twenty years time it served as a fishing ship in the North Atlantic until it was sold to Gothenburg in 1981. In 1982 the ship was acquired by Rederi AB Sol and Sommar that towed the ship to Gåshaga Shipyard in Lidingö Stockholm where it during 6 years renovation was transformed from a fishing ship to a passenger ship. From 1988 and M/S Teaterskeppet offered theatre and cultural events. Today the ship offers corporate events. In the dining room there are seats for 286 people. The theatre is still there and has 218 seats.
The smaller boat is M/S Södertörn that was constructed in 1969 by Marinteknik verkstads AB in Öregrund. The ship was ordered by Waxholmsbolaget and got the name Östan (Eastern wind) in series of boats called the windboats M/S Sunnan, M/S Östan and M/S Nordan. M/S Västan also exists but it is an older boat built in 1900 as a steamship. M/S Östan is passenger ship in the archipelago of Stockholm. The maximum number of passenger is 230.
