Photographer's Note
A favourite walk for us, is a walk around the grounds of Saltram house, a National Trust property on the outskirts of Plymouth.
Situated on a hill, one of the paths is on a ridge that enables views such as this.
We are looking down on the Plym estuary.
The River Plym runs from Dartmoor in the centre of the county of Devon, south-west towards Plymouth Sound.
This view shows the tidal part, which shortly leads to Cattewater, which is navigable. It is approximately 20 miles long, quite short when we consider many rivers.
The name Plym is thought to have its origins in Old English and means the 'plum tree', from a back formation from the name of Plympton.
Plymouth took its name from the river.
A muddy estuary, at low tide there are many birds to be seen feeding here.
Taken with my iPhone.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
Cell-phone are amazing, I reckon this already, easy to carry while strolling and taking swift picture when the opportunity arise.
That's seems to be the case with this picture, view through the naked branches down to the beach is clear and distinct.
Cheers, and good evening,
Ike

Hello Jean,
We get a really nice view through the many trees of the coastline, a little bit of water and the houses on the other side. I remember this landscape from the one time I visited the Devon coast. Well captured.

Hello Jean,
What a remarkable quality this photograph has considering it has been taken with a mobile 'phone! The details and sharpness are exquisite, the light and colours so natural and your exposure spot-on.
It is always a bit difficult taking photographs through trees as they usually obscure most of the view - but here, perhaps because of the fact that the tall trees are completely bare of leaves and their branches so slender, the effect is just perfect - we can admire the beauty of these trees yet also perfectly enjoy the distant view of the river curving below as well as the surrounding features.
A fine and interesting note too.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Jean,
I like this view of the river through the trees though I imagine it wouldn't be possible in a few months time. Very good rendering of the colours and fine clarity despite the greyish sky.

Hello Jean,
The view of the estuary is partly hidden by the trees but we still get a good view of the river and the muddy banks surrounding it. But I am just as attracted by the trees themselves. There are so many different kinds of them, of so many different shapes and sizes and various tones of green and brown to provide a most fascinating view. Your mobile phone camera has managed a very impressively sharp and well exposed photo.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
We all seem to be doing it more and more ... using our mobile phones. They are handy, usually with us without thought, and can deliver quality, like this!
The trees, rather than blocking the view, supply a filigree f/g through which we can see tantalising glimpses of the river and the lovely houses on its banks. It's a thoroughly united and enjoyable scene.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean,
The fun part is working out how to get a cell phone image emailed to a laptop then uploaded to internet. You have done well. I needed my students to assist me. They are way ahead of older adults when it comes to technology. Good sharpness, a superb elevated pov and soft, pastel colours. Tfs!
