Photographer's Note
Whitby is one of the highlights of the North Yorkshire coast. Unfortunately it seems that everybody in England knows about it. Once we wanted to visit Whitby on a bank holiday. It took us ages to get there and after one hour driving around we did not find a single parking spot anywhere so we decided to go back home. Last Sunday though we got there quite early, there were not too many people yet, it was so beautiful.
I have showed HERE already three photos of this charming coastal town. This photo was taken from a car park. The view was narrow so the composition options were limited but I still enjoyed it very much. On top of the hill you can spot the Church of Saint Mary.
The Church of Saint Mary is an Anglican parish church serving the town of Whitby in North Yorkshire England. It was founded around 1110, although its interior dates chiefly from the late 18th century. It is situated on the town's east cliff, overlooking the mouth of the River Esk overlooking the town, close to the ruins of Whitby Abbey. Church Steps, a flight of 199 steps lead up the hill to the church from the streets below. The church graveyard is used as a setting in Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula.

Hello Mariusz,
"Charming" is the word for this scene from the coastal town. I like your narration of the difficulty you had in reaching the site, and finding a parking spot... until you decided to go early. What a lovely sunny day you had and photographed it with its full majesty. The mediaeval edifice looms with immense authority on the hilltop, no doubt, a constant reminder to the locals to behave!
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Mariusz,
Tourist traps are usually beautiful, or remarkably interesting in some way, but unfortunately everyone finds out and the charm will soon be gone. In spite of the relatively many tourists seen here, it is obvious why so many people like to visit this town. The castle is beautifully situated on top of the hill and at sea level there are many very pretty houses. The weather that day no doubt was a strong crowd-puller. What a perfect day for an excursion. The colours and light are wonderful and your photo captured several aspects of Whitby.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Mariusz,
I can easily understand why this place is so popular. The village looks so appealing, just as the small church on the hill top. The sunlight made this the perfect day for a trip to this place. The many people enliven the scene even more.

The crowd made this picture extra vivid, mariusz - I am not against tourists, but I can understand why called this a "trap". The sight with the castle atop the hill, while town houses where common people lived, is just awesome.
Chosen a fine POV, scene well under light and good visibility.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hi Mariusz. Sometimes I feel lucky, having to work on weekends and always having the days off during the week. What you show us is what also happens in the Italian tourist places, much better visit them on weekdays when there is no person ..eheheh .. The place is gorgeous, it is famous for a reason, good catch with great views on facades and hills, and great details too.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Mariusz

Hello Mariusz.
Everywhere, when a population is famous for its charm and situation, we find many tourists think this is because besides that now traveling more, internet information about everyone.
Your POV, makes it clear that the place is charming with these houses so beautiful next to the hill where the church at its summit stands out for its originality ... a little reminiscent of a castle, the set is really nice.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; are all factors perfectly made, in this beautiful image.
Well done. I like very much.
Have a nice day.
Best wishes.
Luis.

Hello Mariusz,
Well, I recognised this immediately!
I have seen this scene and climbed those steps many times!
I like how you have given the whole scene a new character and interest by capturing it from a new angle, including many colourful pedestrians! They give a busy, thriving appeal, quite different from many photographs which focus on just the history.
You have used the three horizontal layers to guide us in and upwards, ensuring the seaside town is given its full complement of interests!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Witaj Mariusz,
It has a similar vibe and look to Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria only the tourist crowds are a lot thinner. I like the square format & the sharpness density levels & saturation are perfect. Tfs!

Hi Mariusz!
That's the big disadvantage of the popular places, most part of the times I give up at once:)! Looks really beautiful and colourful and you found a very good pov. Very nice shot!
