900th: Illuminated, a photo from North Yorkshire, England

For my 900th photo uploaded to TrekEarth I wanted to pick something special. Indeed, last night I have participated in a special event organized by English Heritage in which one of the most beautiful ruined abbeys in England, Whitby Abbey, is lit in changing colors for few consecutive evenings with some additional Halloween-themed shows and food stalls accompanying the event. Children loved it but it was freezing cold. The illumination started after it got dark so there was no chance for a blue hour photo. There were about 20-30 photographers standing with tripod in the same spot next to me because there is a little pond in there which allows some reflection.
I have actually showed HERE already a picture from the same spot in a daylight. The abbey is located on a hill, which overlooks a small harbour but the presence of the sea is not apparent from this POV.

In the workshop I uploaded the abbey lit in different color.

Congratulations on reaching 900 pictures! A great milestone. And this is a spectacular photo to celebrate it with. The abbey looks amazing and is illuminated so brilliantly here. I love the reflections too and you managed great clarity and sharpness.

Hello Mariusz,

The abbey is in a very exposed position, so I am not surprised that it was freezing cold!
However, your determination has paid dividends for this is a wonderfully, colourful photograph of the abbey, where you were perfectly positioned to obtain its reflections, too.
The darkness, around it, is very important in the overall effect, it makes this Hallowe'en Spectacle appear to be floating!

There is only one word could be said here, Mariusz: FANTASTIC.
The illuminated abbey marvelously shown at night with water reflection, and added post on the WS.
A superior contrast against the dark night altogether a great photojob done.

I really think it is a strange choice to illuminate such a historic building with such colours but I do like the picture very much and I would probably also have braved the cold.
I guess that this time your daughter didn't ask for ice cream.

Waaw Mariusz! Nothing better to celebrate your 900th pic on TE! Absolutely Amazing! I like a lot show like this,reminds me the light festival of Lyon that i remember with great pleasure. Ciekawe oswietlenie tego opactwa, odbicie w malym stawie to dodatkowy bonus do zdjecia.
Kolorystyka jest atrakcyjna dla ogladajacych, zwlaszcza gdy jest to forma jakiegos pokazu i zmieniajacych sie kolorow. Na zdjeciu gorzej jest z oddaniem takiego spektaklu i dlatego uwazam, ze takie budowle ladniej wychodza w jednolitym oswietleniu, a jesli wlaczy sie w to niebieska godzine to juz wogole jest super.
Gratulacje z okazji okraglego posta; ja jakos przemknalem - moze poswietuje okragly tysiac niedlugo ;)

Mariusz, remarkable night photo. A halloween show took place at this abbey in ruin. The stonework is illuminated by pink lights, they are reflected on the little pond located at its entrance. Fine colors, good image quality, interesting photo note, regards.

A superb nocturnal shot of the artificially illuminated cathedral ruins with a wonderful silky fg reflection. Good sharpness which is critical in this type of shot. Tfs!

in russia I took many images of the red square at night. this one is fantastic and enhanced the shapes of the medieval architecture and the reflections added more beauty yet. perfect.
