Photographer’s Note

Kelephos Bridge was built in year 1571, in year when Venetians were preparing the defence of the island against Turks.
It did not helped, Turks invaded Cyprus and conquered it quite quickly.
So what has happened in the year 1571 also?
- Royal Exchange was opened in London
- Great naval Battle of Lepanto happened, in which Turkish fleet was defeated by allied Christian forces
- Spain occupies Manila in Philippines
- Caravaggio was born
- Chellini died
- Muslim Crimean Tatars army beseiged Moscow, was unable to storm it but succesfully set fire on the city, which burned almost fully.

All in all, it was kind of alarming year, with Muslim Ottoman Empire on a raise and different Christian nations suffering big defeats.
But in the next year, 1572, this tide was more or less tampered.
And this bridge, built in these far times, still stands.

Interesting to note haw much was happening in the world at such time as a humble bridge that still stands was built. Well captured, nice dappled light and good detail. well composed also. Thanks for sharing.

Great note. Cool bridge, and impressive piece of architecture that has stood the test of time. Nice composition within the surrounding forest too.
