Petra, which means rock in Greek, is an archaeological site in southwestern Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor. It was hidden in the mountains for thousands of years when the Swiss explorer Johan Ludwig Burckhardt discovered it in 1812. So far, no method has been found to determine when the history of Petra began. Evidence suggests that the city was founded relatively late, though a sanctuary may have existed there since very ancient times. Buildings like temples and tombs are all carved out of the red-pink sandstone cliffs, which also gives it the name of "rose-red city".

Hallo Attila!
You have "the eye"! There are many many photos of Petra everywhere but you show us a part a bit away from the well kept magnificence. Your object shows a bit more decay and damages by erosion which make it even more impressive. These layers in the rock are really incredible. A great photo in the sense of TE!
Greetings from very wet Germany - and have a nice weekend!

Szia Attila!
Engem mindigis lenyűgözött ez a sziklába vájt város! A képed csak erősíti ezt az ámulatot! :)

Hello Attila,
Ornaments makes this entrance a huge sculpture and marble like layers on rocks are amazing. I like the color on facade and your way adding the models to the scene. You already created a different scene as usual for well known place.

Ciao Attila,
Ciao e buona serata!

Ciao Attila

Hello Attila
I subscribe what Frank said, and applaude the way you 'escape' the usual approach to Petra and present us this 'crop' of the rocky facades only with this two camels lying on the ground.
The patterns and colours on the rocks are absolutely wonderful and it must be a wonderful experience to stand there right next to them.
Cheers.

Hi Attila,
You show us a location away from the usual suspect shots of Petra (one of the top places I have been), by itself not very attractive. However, your composition and POV makes any place look great. A top class photographer can do that.
Excellent job

Szia Attila,
Az ókor egy csodálatos építménye. Néha értetlenül áll az ember ily csoda felett. Nagyon jól vetted le a bejáratot, a sziklába vésett oszlopokkal, díszítő elemekkel. A homokkő színe fantasztikus.

Bravo

Hi Attila,
The vertical format really shows us the height of this magnificnet place, and the camels at the bottom give a good sense of scale too aswell as adding some nice life. The colours and textures, patterns and carvings on the rock is simply beautiful. Nice work!

Hi Attila,
Having a city carved in the middle of some desert hills is intriguing enough to make the place quite interesting. The rare beauty of the rocks, with their "veins" and variate patterns makes it even more beautiful and that's notable here. The POV is clever and I like much the inclusion of the camels.
Amazing clarity for a scan.

Szia Attila!
A képed csinált kedvet nekem, hogy utánanézzek Petrának. Hát, ez fantasztikus csodája a természetnek (a rétegenként változó színű üledékes kőzettel), a sok évezredes emberi alkotóerőnek és fantáziának, amit Te még megtoldasz a teve vigyorával. Lenyűgöző.
