Photographer's Note

my contact with people during getaways is an insatiable, greedy, uncontrollable instinct, a quest for the inevitable - sharing stories, funny predicaments, funny predicaments using sign language and making some photos that surprise me, every getaway has given me one photo, a portrait that remains close to me throughout, gives me the 'flashes'.

I remember the last one was of a nomadic little girl from Drass between Kashmir and Ladakh, it surprised me when i could see my reflection in her eyes, in clear light, what could be more real ?

Over 10days i have shot architecture with great relish but have made just ONE contact.

So here is the profile from that one contact, a woman at the Greek Village at Mustafapasha, 10 kms south of Urgup in the Cappadocia region, Central Anatolia. I will share more of her later, and why she took sanya and myself to her house.

But for now, i can tell you her breath had the fragrance of molasses. how could i forget. what could be more real ?

for Deniz....
