"The Lord is my shepherd...."
The tour group I went to Turkey with was a church one and, among other places, we visited the ruins of all the churches of the Apocalypse when we were there, celebrating a mass at each one. As we did this in Laodicea, a shepherd and his flock walked by. The shepherd stopped right beside us, and like a New Testament illustration of the metaphorical figure from the 23rd Psalm, hung his head while we prayed. Atheist or believer, you were moved.
My father-in-law died yesterday, and I can think of no better time to post this picture. |
