Stepping inside...
What a different world of 'inside'... No place to hide... No sneaky shots possible... Every click of your shutter is like a blast of a hand grenade in the quietness of the four walls...
No crowd to camouflage yourself... Your wide angle lens is almost touching his hand... His cheek... You can hear him breathing...

Live people.... Live photography... Real faces...

Stan is an auto mechanic. He's a good auto mechanic.

Stan even cleaned my dirty windshields (for no reason at all. I'll need them dirty).

Here is to you, Stan.
Thanks good, ol' buddy, eh...

Takie socrealistyczne to jest. Człowiek ciężkiej pracy. Ale niech tam, podoba się.
Pozdrawiam.

Stan's the man! He needs to go into your theme on "Working People". You're so close you can almost feel the concentration in his face. Love the grimy muted colours - contrasted beautifully by the vivid flash of red. I'm sitting behind my office desk (it's lunch time), but sometimes I wished I'd learnt a manual trade - there's nothing more satisfying than working with your hands.

All the best, Roberto

Besides the look of concentration on Stan's face, I love the grimey greasyness of this oily shot, George. The dirty car sides and the reflection of the outside light filtering into the workshop; the bold red stripes (so characteristic of you); and of course the slight movement of Stan's hand as he subtly adjusts the dial on his alignment machine.

Have a great weekend Bud! Casper

Tak jak napisales: "Live people.... Live photography... Real faces..." Czlowiek i jego praca. W tej jednej fotografii pokazales zycie tego czlowieka.

Pozdrawiam

Petr

Hi George,

Good light and bright, very good sharp...

TFS

You portrayed so well his expression : the far-sightedness glasses due to his age, the distance he needs to take to see better and the way he reverses his head and opens his mouth in the action ;
... the love of the job well done, the attention for the details - I guess that Stan is a happy man as he can give all the care he can and concentrate on what he is doing. I suppose that he does not loathe his job...

... But dear George, you dramatize a bit too much the job of the photographer ; hand grenades ??? Did you fight over the permission of taking photos ? I'm sure that you know how to get (or take) such permissions, don't you ? ..... ;o)))

(Just reflecting on this kind of people's photos, taken in small, closed spaces : not many of that sort on TE... Is it because of a lack of interest for them - and fascinations for sceneries and the best "blue hour" pic, or is it because some photographers don't dare approaching the persons (fear of disturbing - but often, it's a pleasure for them, people like it !), even if these photographers are attracted (or maybe not) to such a theme ? I for sure prefer this kind of photos and not too many "blue hours" !)

And I admire really the way you portrayed him at work and ; as you noted in the photo, that "alignment", all lines converging to his face :
... very clever, I like it a lot !
Love and dirty grease,
Katarzyna
(The big shiney wheel is also superb here, this is an industrial photo made with art !)

Doskonala scena, kompozycja i prezentacja.
Te tony, te kolory, ah ty !
Pozdrawiam. Grazyna.

Wow! There is no doubt, that when cars or motorbikes or traffic lights enter your 20mm, something magical happens. This shot is pure bliss! Thanks again for sharing your work.

Bye
Nuno

Love the high contrast, metalic areas, oily dirt and
unfocused areas.
tones are great and his focused face expression priceless.
No strings attached, just a dirty but precise work needed
for your vehicle to go many miles yet!
Cheers,
Robi

Oh, if I can understand you, George. Your pic is very beautiful and sweet. And a deep one. A work by an intelligent, sensible artist. But, my dear, you always are so! You know, here in my small village, we have so a lot of old, old men who are still working in a wonderful way. With love, with a lot of passion. This is their life, all their life! So I understand. So I appreciate a lot your photo and...your soul. Your beautiful soul too. Ciao,
A.P.

Splendid done here. The angle is absolutely delightful, charismatic
person and splendid tones.Stay well

portret stana - piersza klasa...
wszystko, co powinno zostać pokazane - pokazano, nic zbędnego, ruch ręki, widac pracę, mina - widać pasję i zaangażowanie, bez ściemy, bez udawania, że to mój zawód bo nic innego nie potrafię, ten człowiek zyje tym, co robi...
a z drugiej strony - ta obróbka zdjęcia, ciężka, podkreślająca "soczystość" atmosfery warsztatowej, gdzie zapach smarów, oleju, przeplata się z dymem spalin...
to jest zdjęcie pierwsz klasa...
