Photographer's Note

Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a very unique landscape that is tucked against the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the San Luis Valley. It's quite a sight, since you look to one side and see 30 square miles of sand dunes, and look to the other side to see mountains covered in lush pine and aspen forests. The largest dune rises 750 feet off the valley floor. If you're ever passing through the Valley, I highly recommend taking a stroll on the dunes!
