Photographer’s Note
Taken at the volcanic cone of Mount Eden which towers over Auckland City, Mt Eden is one of 50 volcanic fields that belongs in the Auckland Region
PS - It would be good if the council got the cows and sheep back up onto Mt Eden for grazing.

Hi Jim
Nice subject, with your pov and the distances you got just the right effect to have the giant tree dominante the tiny tower. Good rendering despite cloudy weather
have a nice day jY

Hi Jim,
this place is amazingly beautiful, especially under this wonderful sky. Colors and light are excellent and creating a very pleasant atmosphere. This composition cheers up my heart on a cold and grey day in Northern Germany. TFS!
Warm regards

hi Jim,
there's something Biblical in the dramatic sky and lonely tree overlooking the valley, you almost expect the tree to catch fire :) or, alternatively, the scene could be interpreted as a sight of post-environmental catastrophe, when cities have gone deep underground with jus the rooftops visible. as you can see, thought-proviking photo, and, if I wasn't clear, I like it :)
best,
Kristine

Hi Jim, this tree really does have a commanding view of Auckland. Great depth and your sky is very dramatic and foreboding. Interesting Note about the volcanic fields, I never knew. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend, Lisa.

Hello Jim,
A true ruler, with a very composed presence! Good POV and nice composition. I like how the tree trunk curves and the "step" in the foreground, which adds visual interest to the shot. Great dramatic sky and nice lush colour of the grass to contrast with it. Have a nice weekend, Dasha

Hello Jim,
Wonderful composition with a beautiful atmosphere and lovely colors. The perspective of the tree, the cityscape as BG and the very nice cloudy sky are making this photo a great one.
Have a nice evening, Vasilis.

Hi Jim.
One tree hill used to have the tree that ruled Auckland, until it suffered a chainsaw attack by a Maori activist. Great photo, well composed and nicely prepped. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hello Jim,
Yeah, I can see the natural lawn mowers are lacking hehehe!
Tree with a view indeed, and it makes such a fine element in composition...
Good depth and fine colours under the dramatic sky!

Hello Jim, I have one similar to this but very different, another tree, a different city, not the same at all but it reminded me of mine. Well composed with the dominating tree & the a view of the city beneath it, nice colour & light, FG well lit with every blade of grass clearly visible & dark overcast sky or maybe night is falling. Nice one.

PS, So you were not born within the sound of Bow bell or were you? My wife was. ;-).

Great image Jim.
Fantastic perspective. True - the tree is dominating the whole city from the tower to the harbour bridge.
Nice work.
