Hi all. This is Te Mata peak again. I have already posted a couple of telephoto views from here so I guess its time for a wide angle view. If you look closely enough you can see one of the sheep from my previous post on the left on top of the ridge.
In the distance is the city of Napier and the Pacific Ocean is to the right. The bay is Hawkes Bay which also lends its name to the region. This site is accessible by car though there are numerous walks up down and around this place.
Converted from raw.
Paul.

Hello Paul,
Impressive landscape.
The crest of the volcano as a foreground leads the eye to the far distance and the Pacific Ocean. Although you are nearly faing the sun, you achieved a good control of the exposure and a good definition in all part of the image. I can breath the air as if I was at the top of this mountain, nice beginning of the day for me :o)
Have a nice day (well evening for you)

Hi Paul, I can only echo gary91's comments about the composition. Fine work. I thought all the mountains were on the South Island - obviously I was mistaken. Cheers, Steve

Absoutely gorgeous landscape image. Amazing perspective, clarity, and tonality.
cheers,

Beautiful light, Paul. The green hillsides look very velvety. The rocky ridge, from your POV, stands out dramatically against the flat landscape beyond it, which looks calm and serene due to the horizontal cloud and smoke. Well done, makes me want to visit! Regards, Ken.

Hello Paul, great place and great photo! Excellent composition, colors and superb view!

Hello Paul,
very nice panoramic shot of the greenery and picturesque Te Mata peak.I see it for the first time and i can say that the view from this POV is perfect.I like the beyond environment, with this splendid depth and the city of Napier,in the right.Well done.

Have a nice weekend,Danos

Hello Paul,
This is a very beautiful landscape composition!I like so much the atmosphere and the never ending field of depth together with the two levels in colors and lighting.
Very well seen!

Have a nice weekend,
Thomas

Hi Paul,

wow! What a PoV and what a landscape... It's a pitty that NZ is that far away from France (or France that far away from NZ!) since it really look like one of the very most beautifull country in the world... Keep on making us visiting it via your great shots...

Cheers,

Loïc

Hi Paul,

Interesting ridge and colours. The image is very nice and sharp. I do like your point of view and the good depth here. I barely see the city but the ocean gives a nice balance to this mostly green environment. Thanks Paul.

Roberto

Hallo Paul,
NZ offers a very impressive landscape, i'm looking with great interest. I heard of Napier, but not of this landscape, looks great. Light was not your best friend here, but sure there is a lot of detail in the foreground and the greens look very natural. Seeing the rocks it looks like a crater to the right, at least a very rough landscape...i like this.
Have a great weekend, Henk

Hi Paul
Excellent place. I like this range falling to the ocean. Nice composition and light.

Hi Paul

A good catch of the escarpment at Hawkes Bay. Attractive pastel colours, with good sharpness, & a superb view. Tfs!

hi Paul

From this pov, I really wonder how long it takes for this formation history to complete transformation into this landscape. The hill slopes suggest some movements with the flat valley plain behind.

Really a great place to get your viewpoint from this location and light control is good even though the sky is a bit uncooperative.

You have a nice WE too.

- Very nice but impressive verdant mountain landscape, Paul, the place seems very wild in spite of this greenery, anyway it is very successful and as often, technical quality is in rendez-vous, well done!

Bonjour Paul.
Il y a des paysages d'une grande beauté comme celui-ci. J'aime cette impression de vague solidifiée que fait ce relief, une grande vague verte. Les lointains sont également fabuleux. Beau travail !

Hi Paul,
The depth of this image from a great high POV is impressive, and the landscape that offers us is magnificent.
Good work with the exposure to control the difficult light and the sheens on the ocean, and taking advantage of the shades that draw the relief of the mountains perfectly, and they give us a great 3D sensation.
A very rich and organized well composition.

Josep

Hello Paul
The shape of this peak clearly shows it's tectonic origin. Fine perspective you've created along the ridge & if hadn't mentioned about the sheep, I wouldn't have seen it at all. yes it shows the massiveness of the scale. The green grass looks like velvet. Light looks a bit harsh especially when we see the BG. But a lovely view & a fine work!

Angshu

Paul, you have some awesome additions to your gallery since I last visited so I am just starting here. The view is majestic I think is a good word, not killed by high rise buildings or industrial complexes and the land looks dramatic in itself. Color is great as you know and the composition is very not symmetrical and therefore wonderful. Great capture.

Greg

Hello Paul,

I understand the success you got with this photo. The most interesting is to my mind the very good composition using the cliff to drive the look to the water and then the shore is driving the look in an other direction far to the background. So that, we are discovering all the size and the deepness of this landscape.
Very well managed,

Yves.

Hi Paul,
Stunning! The green ridge of the FG alone would make many great photos, but you went much farther, using it as a lead-in to the rest of the gorgeous view. Shooting with the sun almost in front of the camera, above water is a difficult light situation that you turned into your favour. The glowing sea and haze above the land produces a wonderful effect.
Bravo!
