Photographer's Note

Zipaquirá, the land of the Zipa.

I spent 11 days in and around Bogotá, Colombia some weeks ago. The last of those days were spent in an old village north of the city, known for its abandoned salt mine that has been made a huge underground cathedral. It is for sure one of the most surreal places I have ever been to. After my visit to the cathedral, I went to see the village, which was surprisingly cozy, with many historical buildings. And as the backpacker I am, I headed for the suburbs in the hills. Apparently not the safest places, but they have great views. I did not bring my DSLR up here, so this was taken with my sister's compact camera.
